It is also the same word used for Noah's Ark. The bulrushes ((ヘブライ語:גֹּ֫מֶא) ''gome'') were likely to have been papyrus stalks (''Cyperus papyrus''), daubed with bitumen and pitch (which probably refers to the sticky mud of the Nile).
